Earth and Environmental Science Lab

Earth and Environmental Sciences - www.sciencecourseware.com

These simulation activities in earth and environmental sciences provide unique opportunities for online experiments difficult to duplicate elsewhere.

‘Earthquake’ illustrates how seismic waves are used to determine the magnitude of an earthquake and to locate its epicenter.

VirtualRiver has interactive exercises demonstrating river processes like discharge, flooding, and flood frequency.

Global Warming illustrates principles of global warming and climate changes due to natural and human caused factors.

Each activity requires the learner to make careful observations and measurements, do simple calculations, and answer questions about work completed. Tutorials and assessment tools are built into the labs and a "Certificate of Completion" is provided at the end of each activity. Five more labs are planned in this series enabling a broad coverage of earth and environmental science topics.
